EMNA Annual report 2008/2009

Main events:

• December 2007: EMNA Board meeting in Frankfurt Hahn

• January 2008: EMNA contributes with its own paper to urge WHO to take leading role in alcohol harm reduction

• February: Attendance at Istanbul Conference (Ennio)

• April: Attendance at Barcelona Conference (Ennio, Svein, Anders)

• April: EMNA urges European Forum to appoint Peter Anderson to the Science Group

• April: attendance at European Forum and Open Forum (Ennio, Anders)

• End April: EMNA Board meeting in Erkner (Berlin)

• End April: EMNA appoints Anders Ulstein as person responsible for monitoring and evaluation of our commitment c/o European Forum

• May: EMNA revises the members of the Forum to read 1) Ennio (Chairman) and 2) Svein (Secretary), Adri is replaced by Svein but  remains as alternative contact

• October: EMNA advises the European Forum that it will be impossible to attend the RAND Meeting in november in Brussels (for the presentation of the study on the affordability of alcoholic beverages within the EU)

• October: Attendance at Spanish FARE Congress (Svein)

• October: EMNA contributes with its own paper to WHO public hearing 2008

• October: IOGT Sweden advise will make an application to become member

• November: Attendance at 3^rd meeting of the European Forum on Alcohol & Health (Ennio, Anders)

• November: although EMNA was not invited, nevertheless Ennio (representing WACAT) has attended the W.H.O. meeting in Geneva, focused on future Alcohol Global Strategy, and this will allow EMNA to be kept updated

• November: Attendance at International conference in Madrid organized by FARE and sponsored by EMNA (Ennio, Svein, Imre, the whole Spanish delegation)

• November: EMNA Annual General Meeting in Madrid

• December: EMNA changes contact persons with the Forum (now Ennio Palmesino and Anders Ulstein only)

• January 2009: EMNA represented by Ennio Palmesino within the Youth Task Force meeting on 20^th january 2009 in Luxembourg (see report)

• March 2009: European Forum on Alcohol and Halth: 4^th meeting in Brussels, 13^th march, EMNA represented by Ennio Palmesino (see report)

• April 2009: EMNA Board meeting set for 24-25 april in Stockholm, hosted by Länkernas Riksforbund, Sweden

• April 2009: EMNA will attend the European Open Forum on Alcohol and Health in Brussels on 30^th april
